Jennifer Lopez’s news anchor sister Lynda is leaving WCBS 880

Jennifer Lopez’s news broadcaster sister, Lynda, is leaving WCBS 880 — where she anchors the midday news — “to pursue ‘a once in your lifetime’ opportunity outside of the media and news field,” news director Tim Scheld informed staff in an email this week.

“For a variety of reasons, Lynda can’t talk about the plans just yet. The good news is she looks forward to a day when she may be able to return to the 880 newsroom once again,” Scheld said.

Lopez’s first stint at the station was from 2009 to 2016. She left to work for ABC News and returned in 2020 to replace longtime news anchor Pat Farnack, who retired.

“I am so excited to be returning to WCBS 880 as the midday news anchor and to continue my broadcast career in this great city,” she said at the time.

“WCBS 880 is New York’s trusted source for news and information and serves as a reliable home for its listeners, and I’m proud to once again be a part of it.”

But on Thursday, Scheld wrote to staff, “Lynda will be finishing up here.”

“We wish our friend and colleague the best on her new assignment and I’m confident she will stay in touch with us,” Scheld added.

An insider at the station told Page Six that so far, “No one knows where she’s going.”

A rep for WCBS 880 did not get back to us and Lopez — who describes herself as a news junkie and storyteller on social media — did not comment, or drop any hints as to what’s next.
