Journalists Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov win Nobel Peace Prize

The journalists Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday.

Ressa from the Philippines and Muratov from Russia were praised by the Nobel Committee for their efforts to uphold freedom of expression, “which is a prerequisite for democracy and lasting peace”.

The award includes a gold medal and prize money of 968,000 euros.
