Kate Garraway spoke of the difficult challenges her husband Derek Draper continues to face because of the long Covid.
Good Morning Britain host’s husband was hospitalized for a year after being hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms and falling into a coma.
He’s back at home now, but the former political advisor is still struggling with the illness.
Kate appeared on ITV Good Morning Britain on Thursday and spoke to Dr. Hilary Jones. Birmingham Live Report.
She said, “The tiredness Derek has … I know he’s an extreme case because he has so many different organ problems.
“But even those with less of a challenge… you know, Derek sleeps 20 out of 24 hours a day.
“He has a time window of about 10 minutes.”
Kate added, “And not only is he a little tired, he goes white, pale and everything turns off.
“So you don’t want that kind of fatigue – even to rule out all the other things people suffer from in relation to long-term Covid.
“If you can stop that and just have a bad week in bed, life will change, won’t it?”
She said, “People who have had it easy begin to argue that it’s the same as the flu because the flu can be devastating to people too.
“But that is completely different, because the flu does not cause organ damage to this extent. I mean, even if you look at some of the symptoms that people who have been double vaccinated suffer from – it’s fatigue.
“Now I always thought that fatigue was simply exhaustion from getting up in the morning.
