Prince William and Kate Middleton have congratulated Meghan and Harry on the birth of their daughter.
Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on Friday at 11:40 am in a hospital in Santa Barbara, California.
Both mother and child are healthy and well, the couple said in a statement that said they have now settled in at home.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were “thrilled” with the news, as was the Queen.
Lilibet is named after Queen Elizabeth II, nicknamed Lilibet because she struggled to pronounce her own name as a little girl.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “The Queen, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are pleased to hear of the birth of a daughter for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. ”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also congratulated the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
He wrote: “Congratulations to The Duke & Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their daughter.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the good news on their Archewell website.
A message posted on the couple’s website said, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter Lili.
“It is more than we could ever have imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we have felt from around the world.
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
