Kelly Rizzo talks Bob Saget in first TV interview since his death

Kelly Rizzo fought back tears as she recalled her “nice” husband, Bob Saget, in her first TV interview since his shocking death.

Reflecting on who he was away from his beloved audience, Rizzo described the “Full House” alum as “the best man.”

“He was there to just enjoy life. And he just wanted to make people feel good,” Rizzo says. told NBC News’ Hoda Kotb in an interview to be broadcast on January 20.

“I mean, if we went to a restaurant, he would talk to all the waiters, the waitresses. He knew all the hosts. Everyone knew him and loved him. And his constant message was ‘treat everyone with kindness’ because he had been through so much in his life, and he knew how hard life could be, so he was always so kind and loving to everyone.

Rizzo, 42, began to cry as she gushed over the late comic, which she described as “the best man” she’d ever known.

“He was just so nice and so wonderful, and everyone who was in his life knew it,” she said, wiping the tears from her eyes, “and even anyone who would just casually meet him said, ‘Wow, this is a special guy.'”

Kotb reacted just as emotionally: “And he was yours.”

Saget was found dead in his Florida hotel room on January 9. He was 65. Police ruled out any signs of malicious intent or drug use soon after.

“I’m so heartbroken and in disbelief,” the Eat Travel Rock founder told Page Six the next day. “I am so deeply moved by the outpouring of love and tribute from our friends, family, his fans and his colleagues.”

More than 100 A-listers, including his former co-stars and musician John Mayer, came to pay their respects at Saget’s funeral.
