Latest weekly Covid-19 rates for every local authority area in England

Here is the update of the 7-day rolling new rate of Covid-19 for each local authority in England on Sunday.

The numbers for the seven days leading up to September 24 are based on tests performed in laboratories (Pillar 1 of the government’s testing program) and in the wider community (Pillar 2).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the last three days (September 25-27) have been excluded because they are incomplete and likely to be revised.

In Burnley, 240 new cases were recorded in the seven days ending September 24 – that’s 269.9 per 100,000 people.

Burnley has the highest rate in England, from 138.3 in the seven days ending September 17th.

Knowsley has the second highest rate of 137.2 to 265.1 with 400 new cases.

Liverpool is in third place, where the rate rose from 146.6 to 251.8 with 1,254 new cases.

Other areas where the 7-day rates have risen sharply are:

  • Newcastle upon Tyne (from 89.5 to 246.4 with 746 new cases)
  • Pendle (from 112.9 to 218.2 with 201 new cases)
  • Sunderland (from 88.2 to 188.7, with 524 new cases)
  • Northumberland (from 49.9 to 137.7 with 444 new cases)
  • Halton (from 143.0 to 219.5 with 284 new cases)

The list was calculated by the PA news agency and is based on data from Public Health England released on the government’s coronavirus dashboard on Sept. 27.
