Latest weekly Covid rates for every local area in England

Here is the update of the Covid-19 case rates for each area in England on Thursday.

The numbers for the seven days ending April 18 are based on the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test after the sample date.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the last four days (April 19-22) have been excluded because they are incomplete and do not reflect the actual number of cases.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 109 (35%) have seen rates increase, 196 (62%) have decreased and 10 are unchanged.

Doncaster continues to have the highest rate of 234 new cases in the seven days through April 18 – that’s 75.0 cases per 100,000 people.

That is a decrease of 88.8 in the seven days leading up to April 11th.

Luton has the second highest rate with 146 new cases from 94.8 to 68.5.

Slough has the third highest value with 95 new cases from 71.6 to 63.5.

The five areas with the greatest increases from week to week are:

  • South Lakeland (from 7.6 to 26.6)
  • Eastleigh (12.0 to 27.7)
  • Great Yarmouth (7.0-22.1)
  • Cherwell (18.6 to 33.2)
  • Selby (41.9 to 56.3)

The list was calculated by the PA News Agency based on data from Public Health England released on the government’s coronavirus dashboard on April 22nd.
