Lawmakers warned of possible coronavirus exposure during riot

Lawmakers huddled for safety last week – when a deadly siege overtook the U.S. Capitol – may have been exposed to someone infected with the coronavirus, the attending physician’s office warned on Sunday.

According to an email from attending physician Brian Monahan sent to all lawmakers and their staff on Sunday, House lawmakers were “in protective isolation” on Jan. 6 in a room in a large committee hearing room.

Legislators rallied for security reasons when the crowd of President Donald Trump’s supporters came to the Capitol last week to disrupt certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over the electoral college.
