Life is Strange 2 demo now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC

A Life of Strange 2 demo has just been released for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The entire game spans five episodes and as you’d expect, the demo seems to focus on the first episode.

Life is Strange 2 stars two brothers, Sean and Daniel Diaz, who unintentionally take a cross-country hike after the tragedy has messed up their lives. Developer Dontnod aptly describes it as a ‘socially relevant story about prejudice, loss, brotherhood and hope’. The second game in the series is about completely different characters, but fans of the original Life is Strange will be familiar with the mix of storytelling and decision-making.

Oh, did I mention Daniel, the younger brother, has telekinetic superpowers? Because that’s quite important. Without wanting to be spoiled, Daniel’s abilities shape his relationship with his brother and the nature of their journey, while giving the story a cool fantasy element to play with. Again, there are thematic similarities to the first game, but the stakes, setting and character dynamics are completely different.

We’ve reviewed Life is Strange 2 episode by episode; you can check out our thoughts on the former here. It starts a bit loose, but the game quickly finds its hold and it is nothing but heartache to the end. Suffice it to say it’s a story worth experiencing, so if anything about the demo gets you, it’s up to you to watch at least episode two. That should tell you if you want to stay in it long term.

Dontnod’s next game, Tell me why, plays a transgender protagonist.
