Line of Duty is BBC One’s megahit that draws millions of viewers every Sunday night.
And this week’s program (April 11th) was no exception, with its clues and revelations about the murder of Gail Vella.
But a massive revelation baffled the fans – Ted Hastings received his marching orders from the deputy chief of police.
Only minutes after giving his well-known rating of the “law letter”, he got the boot.
After 30 years of police service, he was offered early retirement after the DCC and PCC were upset about the handling of the investigation into Gail Vella’s murder investigation.
“When did we stop caring about honesty and integrity?” he asked DCC Andrea Wise before turning on his heels and walking out the door.
Many used social media to express their amazement at the plot.
Mollie spoke for all Ted fans when she tweeted: “HASTINGS NOOOOO # Exercise of duty “”
Abbey was in disbelief and tweeted, “This can’t really happen, you can’t just cut AC-12 # Exercise of duty “”
But the favorite was from Scott, who is already planning a spin-off: “Honesty & Integrity: The Battle of Hastings # Exercise of duty “”
Line of Duty is on Sundays at 9 p.m. on BBC One
