Long Island elderly man drowns after falling into pool while shoveling snow

An elderly Suffolk County man drowned Saturday after falling into a swimming pool while shoveling snow.

Southold Town Police and Fire Brigade officers showed up at the man’s home in Cutchogue around 8:30 a.m.

Rescuers retrieved the unconscious man from the pool and performed CPR, police told The Suffolk Times.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, where he was pronounced dead.

Southold Town Police did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
