China: truck dangles from a 100 meter high cliff

A truck dangled from a 100-meter cliff after its GPS guided it down a narrow mountain road in northern China.

The nerve-wracking incident occurred on January 1 in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province.

The truck driver allegedly followed his GPS, which directed him to take the narrow mountain road.

However, when he found the truck was too wide to pass the path, he allegedly tried to reverse, but broke through the flimsy guardrails.

Amazingly, the man managed to escape from the driver’s cab of the truck that was dangling from the rugged cliff 100 meters above the ground.

Terrifying shots show how the truck hardly stays on the road and hangs with its right side on the edge of the cliff.

Mr. Wu, a driver behind the truck, said, “This highway has a restriction that the maximum width of all vehicles cannot exceed 6.8 meters.

“It has snowed in the last few days and the truck slipped off the road when turning and now it gets stuck and blocks the traffic completely.”

Authorities used three tow trucks to retrieve the large vehicle, which reportedly had to be cut in half.

Due to its size and the width of the street, it took three days to finally get up.

Traffic on the street has normalized, local media reported.

The vehicle was put back on the road on January 3 at 4 p.m. local time.
