Love Island star Demi Jones told fans that she had a painful hole in her throat after cancer surgery.
The 22-year-old, who appeared on the 2020 series of the ITV show, underwent a thyroidectomy this week.
She is now recovering in the hospital as she bravely battles the disease.
Demi posted her 1.2 million Instagram followers and said she felt “surprisingly better” after the operation.
In a video filmed from her hospital bed, she said, “I just thought I’d call in when I’m finally up and have just had lunch.
“I feel surprisingly better this time. I don’t know if that’s because I went through it and knew what to expect.”
Demi pointed to the hole in her throat and added, “This thing here” [the hole in her neck] just really hurts. “
“So I had my full thyroidectomy. You can see the tube coming out of my throat there, which is probably the most painful thing about it.
“It’s going to this drain that takes all the blood.
“The surgeon told me that in the past few weeks the number of young girls being examined in the department has increased significantly.
“He thinks it’s up to me, which is absolutely amazing.
Demi found mysterious lumps in her throat earlier this year and was later diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
She had an initial operation to remove the golf ball-sized tumor that left a two-inch scar, but her most recent operation removed her entire thyroid.
