Loved-up dogs tie the knot in romantic wedding and vow to stay together 'until death do them bark'

Two dogs have been wed in a garden ceremony surrounded by their owners and four-legged friends.

Twixie and Cowboy, both brussel griffons, have tied the knot in full wedding attire, vowing to stay together ‘until death do them bark’.

The blushing bride, Twixie, named after the chocolate bar, belongs to owner Tara Helwig, who has been striving to raise awareness of her dog’s ‘unique breed’.

Her two-year-old dog has gained more than 9,000 Instagram followers thanks to her permanent puppy dog ​​eyes.

Tara said: ”She has a super sweet demeanour and always wants those around her to be happy.

“She’s very loving. Although sometimes she likes to ‘talk’ more than I would prefer.

“Twixie’s eyes are definitely something people point out. They’re big and very telling of her emotions.”

Tara, from Dallas, Texas, started Twixie’s Instagram page to meet other brussel griffon owners – but never imagined her dog would end up marrying one of her followers.

Her husband, Cowboy, has racked up 3,000 followers on Instagram and is known to be the “dog-eared monkey” of the brussel griffon world.

When celebrating their wedding day, Tara said: “Before you’re quick to judge, remember sometimes in life it’s OK to find joy, to step away from reality and embrace a community from all over the country and different beliefs and backgrounds to come together .

“We raised over $2,500 for the National Brussels Griffon Rescue League and treated our furbabies to an amazing day.

“Brussels griffons are a unique breed! There are rough coat and smooth coat types – and they come in all different colors and sizes too. They’re known to be velcro dogs and for their human-like expressions.”

Sharing their well wishes to the happy couple, one attendee said: “Thanks for hosting such a fun event! We had a blast and loved meeting so many fun new people and their adorable pups.”

Another added: “Best weekend ever. Thank you so much for having us. Congratulations to Twixie and Cowboy.”

While a third said: “This is amazing! love it What an incredible day! Thank you for including us.”

Originally bred to hunt and kill rats and mice, brussels griffon have been described as a “smart, devoted, and comically self-important” breed, who make great pets to the right owners.
