Luxury hotel cannot find chauffeur to drive its Bentley and supercars

A five-star hotel is looking for someone to drive their Bentley and a fleet of different supercars.

But the noticeable job is just one of many vacancies at the luxury hotel Gotham in Manchester.

The bosses advertised the chauffeur job weeks ago but can’t find a suitable candidate to drive the hotel’s Gotham Bentley.

The role also needs someone who, as part of the hotel’s concierge team, is happy to drive a selection of high-end engines.

It’s important that the role is cast soon as the hotel is now the northern flagship of Auto Vivendi, the world’s largest supercar club with private members, due to officially open in the city in July.

As part of the connection, the King Street Hotel will house five of the club’s supercars that members can rent as part of their membership package, including a Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

Auto Vivendi Supercars Club membership starts at £ 13,000 per year and gives members access to a variety of supercars available for hire throughout the year.

Mario Ovsenjak, the hotel manager, said that Manchester evening news It was becoming more and more difficult to recruit staff – an experience that was felt throughout the hotel industry, both regionally and nationally.

“A year ago we had 200 applicants when we advertised a position,” he said.

“Now we’re lucky if we get 20. It’s a problem in the entire industry.”

He said he was surprised there had been no more interest in the concierge / chauffeur post, which was re-promoted on their social media accounts this week.

Mario continued, “It has to be someone who is confident and comfortable to drive our Bentley and high-end cars like the Ferrari, with a full clean driver’s license.

“We are looking for someone with experience in a luxury 5-star hotel environment.

“And above all, it has to be someone with a lot of personality to work at the Hotel Gotham.”

The salary for the role is ‘experience-based’.
