A 23-year-old man has been arrested after two girls, aged nine and 14, were thrown from the eighth floor of an apartment block in Russia.

One of the sisters died after the 80-foot fall while the other died in hospital from complications from her injuries.

Neighbors of the property in Kyzyl, capital of the Russian mountain republic of Tyva, heard terrible screams as the girls fell several minutes apart in the early hours of the morning.

Ochur Sanchat, the inmate, was a relative of the girls’ mother.

He claimed they were “making too much noise” in an apartment where he had rented a room while fleeing the police, law enforcement officials said.

The children’s mother was working a night shift in a café when her daughters were murdered, while their third daughter, a twin sister of the nine-year-old, was in bed at the time and was unharmed.

The man admitted to having thrown the girls out of a window, the police said.

He is said to have been on the run from the police for stealing a car.

He had fled the court and was on Russia’s wanted list.

“I woke up to a slammed balcony door and terrible screams,” she said.

“Literally a minute passed while I was trying to figure out what was happening, there was a loud roar, terrible screams, and then everything went silent for three or four minutes.

“Then it happened again …

“I was home alone with my children.”

Irena said she didn’t hold her head but called the police.

The Russian investigative committee confirmed that the 23-year-old had been detained for two months.
