A man has died after jumping into the Thames to rescue a woman who fell from London Bridge.
Two men entered the water around midnight after seeing the woman fall out of the building, City of London Police said.
The Coast Guard and the Marine Unit of the Metropolitan Police rescued the woman and one of the men, but could not find the other despite an extensive search.
Police said a body was found at 6 a.m., believed to be the missing person’s body.
A spokesman for the City of London Police said: “We were called at 12.12pm on Saturday 24 April for reports of a woman in the Thames near London Bridge.
“Two men who saw the woman fall off the bridge entered the river to save her.
“The Coast Guard and Metropolitan Police naval units were able to save the woman and one of the men.”
The troop said the man’s immediate family had been made aware of this.
