Man spends four hours building impressive 7ft Dalek snowman

A man built a 7-foot dalek out of snow in his garden.

Paul Cullen, 48, spent four hours building the infamous Doctor Who villain in his backyard.

The budding math teacher thought, “It was just something to do and good practice!”

His competitive spirit prevailed against him on Monday when a neighbor marveled at a snowman in the garden next door.

Ex-skydiver Paul spent two hours building a 7 foot tall cowboy to compete with that of his neighbor in Mow Cop, Staffordshire.

And the following day (Tuesday, December 29th) it enlarged by turning it into a Dalek.

He said, “I was concerned about the lack of finesse in the cowboy who so converted him.

“I’m not a huge Doctor Who fan, but I wanted to build something that would be sturdy. I looked at pictures of R2D2, but it was too top heavy.”

This took another two hours and double the amount of snow for its original creation.

As an experienced snowmaker, Paul built an igloo with wallpaper paste buckets during his studies and managed a similar technique by making snow bricks and then rounding them off.

He said, “I just stopped taking out the chainsaw.”

There was about eight inches of snow in Paul’s garden on Sunday evening (December 27th), but people are skiing on the top of Mow Cop Hill, as it is over three feet deep.

His next challenge is to recreate the Mow Cop Castle, which he is building with the help of his neighbor.
