Marks and Spencer reopens more cafes for takeaway services

As lockdown slowly lifts across the UK, Marks and Spencer has announced plans to reopen some of its cafes and banks to customers.

The high street store has revealed that it is reopening another 47 cafes for takeaway only, bringing the total to 95 now open across the UK and Ireland. You can see the full list below.

Since restarting business last month, the 48 M&S cafes that reopened have already sold more than 80,000 coffees alone, reports the Mirror.

Across all of M&S, the team is continuing its focus on helping customers shop with confidence.

In the cafes, rigorous safety measures include:

  • Perspex screens have been installed at each café till and contactless payment is encouraged.
  • All colleagues will wash their hands every 30 minutes, with additional washing immediately after taking cash payments.

  • Signs are in place to remind customers about social distancing requirements and guide them on how to move safely through the hot drink-to-go journey. For example, floor markings show customers where to stand if they need to queue in order to ensure they are two metres apart from the next customer.

  • One colleague only is working behind the counter to ensure social distancing.

  • Contactless collection – hot drinks with the accompanying lid will be placed in the hatch under the screen to allow customers to pick it up and put on their own lid.
