A customer at a McDonald’s in West Midlands was speechless when an employee of the fast food giant paid for his order.
Coventry student Enya Vegnere overheard 25-year-old Joshua Henry call his mother to ask her if she wanted something from the restaurant before showing the casual act of kindness.
Without warning, the 19-year-old refused to accept payments from the customer threatened with redundancy and placed the order herself, reports MirrorOnline.
In a video he shared online, Joshua can be heard asking Enya, “So are you going to pay for my meal?”
She replied, “Yes, because you called your mom and asked if she wanted something from McDonald’s” before revealing it was her way of the day.
Enya is then shown putting her bank card in the machine before covering her face when she discovers he is filming.
Joshua said, “I have to pay for this tomorrow, thank you very much. What’s your name?”
“Enya,” she replied.
She added, “You never know what someone is going through and what a kind gesture might do.”
In describing his video, he wrote, “So I went to McDonald’s Coventry Tile Hill and while I was about to place my order, I called my mom and asked if she wanted something.
“Really cheered me up after a depressing day because I’m at high risk of layoffs.
“I then placed my order and then went around the window to pay and this girl said she will pay for my order as her way of the day because I called my mom and it was thoughtful.”
Enya told The sun : “I thought it was cute that he called his mother – not everyone is so considerate of their parents.
“I thought why not reward his thoughtfulness – it was only 4 pounds, a hot chocolate, and a couple of burgers.
“Some people do kind things with the expectation that they will get something in return, but that is not the way to do it.”
And it seems like this isn’t the first time Enya has paid for customers’ meals.
She has spent more than £ 50 of her own £ 7.25 hourly wage on food or drink for people she believes will appreciate.
