Meghan Markle's hairdresser lifts lid on working with the 'modern princess'

Meghan Markle’s hairdresser has said in an interview that people could “relate to and strive for” the Duchess, revealing the couple’s “very close” relationship.

George Northwood, who has an exclusive London salon, has worked with the Duchess of Sussex for a number of years.

He said the “intimate” role meant he got a lot closer to Meghan than most of the others.

In conversation with British Vogue He said, “We were touring Australia, New Zealand and Tonga etc for three weeks and most of the time it was just me and her – you have back-to-back engagements, lots of different looks, and a full-on schedule so you get in come very close to this time.

“As a hairdresser, you just have a more intimate role in getting someone down. We made Cali girls’ hair a little more formal and had a real laugh.”

He also called her a “very modern princess” and added that she was someone we could all “identify and aspire to” with.

“The way she approaches things is the way an everyday woman approaches things. She has a real sense of style and wanted to look approachable despite being a princess,” he told the other Vogue.

“She was a very modern princess, the kind of princess that we can identify with and aspire to, and the hair just fell in.”

Northwood also raved about his time with Harry and Meghan on social media.

He wrote: “It has been a tremendous privilege and great fun to work with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the past two years.

“I loved every minute of working with this amazing couple who not only are committed to small business but also taught me so much about diversity, equality and the importance of good mental health.”
