A cheeky French Bulldog nicknamed “Dennis the Menace” is looking for a new home after being fostered for the second time in 12 months.
The three-year-old dog was rehabilitated just in time for Christmas, but is now back with rescue workers Friends of the Animals Wales.
His current caregiver, Emma Caskie, warns that Dennis has special loves and disgusts, but is generally a “misunderstood soul,” reports TeamDogs.
In a humorous rescue petition, she said, “Do you like thriller films? Do you often think that the main characters are misunderstood and not really obsessed ?!
“Then Dennis the Menace is the dog for you, because every day with Dennis is like living in a real thriller.
“Some days you might be living with the canine version of Hannibal Lecter and other days you might be snuggled up next to the canine version of Mogwai in gremlins … just don’t get him wet or the naughty gremlin might arrive!
“Dennis is a three year old French Bulldog who is a very misunderstood soul.
“He likes to realize that he is a silent assassin who would prefer to live alone, with no visitors or uninvited guests and with his view of the neighbor’s fence when he is playing football unauthorized but is deep inside he has a very sensitive soul that has it. ” decided from his harsh past that the best way to keep strangers away is to scare them with your best angry pig impression when meeting people for the first time or when people come into his house uninvited.
“He would not be selected on an episode of the first dates!
“Among the tough, somewhat clumsy fellow, there is an adorable villain who secretly loves cuddling and napping on the sofa and is a small dog that cries out for stability and routine.”
Dennis is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and up to date with flea and worm treatments.
He has had a number of health issues in the past that have had surgery since then, including correcting his patella in both knees and having obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) surgery to help him breathe better and cope with hotter temperatures.
Dennis hopes to find a single person household where he can be the center of attention.

He likes cats but would rather be a single dog if possible. However, he could live with a calm dog of similar size.
For Dennis, first impressions are everything, added Ms. Caskie: “Dennis decides very carefully how he will treat people.
“We haven’t decided if he does this for looks, smell, fashion sense, or accent, but Dennis will judge you 100% when you first meet and based on his judgment you will either go with the cute pig side of his personality or treated with you.The angry pig may be a little scared – but if he trusts you, which usually involves ham, chicken, a quick prayer, and a four-leaf clover, he’s perfectly fine to deal with and touch too become. “
Regarding his personality, Ms. Caskie said: “Dennis in the apartment is a mysterious man.
“Some days he scans the perimeter of the house, checks the fences and decides that nothing needs to be examined. Other days he has to sense that a football is lurking somewhere in the neighborhood and he makes it his business to close them all destroy – even if this involves staring at a fence panel or trying to dig to get there.
“Dennis has an obsessive personality that currently portrays itself as a toy obsession specifically for balls. When it rains, he is determined to catch every drop that falls. Therefore, he must be closely monitored and keep working to keep him calm and not turn him into a dog that excels on the ‘Neighbor from Hell’ program.
“Dennis believes that all toys should be destroyed immediately and that anyone who gets in his way can be exposed to his anger. Hence, negotiations must begin when he grabs something he desires – chicken is usually his trading currency or ham as a second tactic! ”
While the Frenchie has had some past heartbreak trust issues due to its history, potential owners are sure they have a sensitive side once you get to know them.
Ms. Caskie added, “Dennis is the naughtiest, funniest, most empathetic, naughty, and reactive Frenchie who has had a really tough past and is desperate to trust people, but unfortunately his past experiences have only made him not want to.
“His foster home is where his behavior is managed, he trusts his foster mother, and he’s a lovable villain whose worst habit is digging in flower beds and snoring too loudly, but when he’s allowed to rule the house or get into unnecessarily stressful situations in one new home is definitely a threat to Dennis.
“Dennis deserves a home that is ready to work with him, understand his fears and not put pressure on him.
“He’s a Frenchie who has his quirks, but anyone who has experience with stressful French people will overlook it and hopefully understand that they need to have the time and understanding to settle in a new environment.”
