A cage fighter who murdered his ex and tried to kill the boy she had sex with has been incarcerated for 35 years.
Wallsend MMA fighter Paul Robson, 50, murdered his ex-girlfriend Caroline Kayll after confronting her about an inappropriate sexual relationship.
Jealous ex-convict Robson, 50, killed Kayll, 47, last November at her home in Linton, Northumberland.
She couldn’t survive the catastrophic brain injuries he had inflicted.
He was jailed at Newcastle Crown Court for life imprisonment with a minimum sentence of 35 years.
Mr Justice Lavender said: “You were upset when you found out about their relationship, but you had known it for over two weeks when you decided to drive to her home from Glasgow.”
Nicholas Lumley QC, prosecutor said, “He would never do anything but ruin her.”
CCTV showed him “prowling” in front of their house.
After the harrowing and sustained attack, he fled to Glasgow and remained at large while police asked him to track him down before he was arrested.
Robson, convicted of murder, attempted murder, and extortion, ran for six days as his ex-partner’s life in the hospital ebbed.
Robson of Wallsend had a secret relationship with Mrs. Kayll while serving a prison sentence with HMP Northumberland.
They lived together but separated weeks before the murder, and he blackmailed her upon learning of their illegal relationship.
During Robson’s trial, jurors were told that he had been illegally killing Ms. Kayll for 20 months.
It was said that he completed training as an MMA fighter and also worked as a trainer.
