Mnuchin: Virus task force unanimously shunned Trump's quarantine idea

The White House coronavirus task force unanimously avoided President Donald Trump’s proposal for quarantine in the New York City region, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Sunday.

The president “has been seriously considering closing off the three-state region of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut,” Mnuchin said on Fox News Sunday. But Trump was prevented from doing so after meeting with the Task Force led by Vice President Mike Pence.

“The president wanted to examine all options. He was obviously concerned about what was going on with New York, ”said Mnuchin, a member of the task force. “He spoke to the task force, he spoke to the governors, and he felt comfortable that people would take this advice very seriously and would not travel.”
