A teacher who ordered calculators from Morrison was surprised when her online order came in and school equipment was replaced – including seven pasta bakes with chicken and bacon.
It is known that supermarkets regularly replace items in an online order when the desired product is not available.
However, it’s not clear what made Morrisons subtract calculators and multiply pasta casseroles in this case.
Alison Jagger, a math teacher from Wakefield, ordered seven calculators, reports The mirror.
Alison tweeted, “What if you order seven calculators from @morrisons and they send you seven replacement chicken and bacon pasta casseroles instead?”
Your tweet quickly gained 4,000+ likes and hundreds of retweets.
The official Morrisons Twitter account replied to the post, writing, “Ermmm, wow. I’m not sure how this happened, Ms. Jagger. You can give us your order number, email address, zip code and contact number along with a Share a copy of your DM? Tweet so we can try to find out what’s going on here. “
Alison told The Mirror that she has since received a full refund for the calculators and that Morrisons let her keep the pasta casseroles as well.
She said, “I’m a secondary school math teacher in Wakefield.
“Our school gave all of our calculators to 10th and 11th grade students so that they don’t have to distribute them over bubbles as part of our covid risk assessment.
“But then that means that students in Years 7 through 9 have little access to calculators for their classes. So I looked for calculators to buy my students for math class and saw that Morrisons’ calculators for 2 . £ 50 on offer.
“I thought I would get as many as I could as this is a really good deal, so I ordered seven.
“Then when it arrived they had replaced the seven calculators with seven pasta casseroles!”
She went on to say, “My husband Jonathan ran outside and managed to catch the driver. He said we didn’t order this, we ordered calculators and he just laughed and said it was a replacement and we need that Contact customer service. “
“I requested a refund through Amazon and they refunded the full amount and let us keep the pasta casseroles.
“I’m just glad we didn’t order more as I would have had dozens if they had let me!”
The teacher added, “Now I need to find some scientific calculators that are just as valuable as this one.
“I don’t think the pasta is very good at calculating angles in pie charts with year 9 on Wednesday!”
