The National Lottery has announced players’ favorite numbers, including a reference to the American television drama Lost.
In previously unpublished data, the National Lottery found that the most preferred combination by lottery players was multiples of seven – 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42.
While the number seven is often viewed as a good luck charm, these six have yet to be pulled together.
Multiples of five was the second most popular combination of numbers chosen by lottery players.
While other combinations of multiple numbers also score high scores on players’ favorites, including multiples of nine and ten, the third favorite combination is a reference to the US series Lost.
The show premiered in 2004 – that is, it’s older than some lottery players as they must be at least 16 years old.
The series followed victims of a plane crash when they were stranded on an island.
One of the characters, Hurley, had previously won his own lottery jackpot of $ 114 million by playing the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.
Hundreds of lottery players are still following in his fictional footsteps in hopes of winning their own jackpot.
The data was examined during the lottery draw on October 31, but is typical of other draws.
Other popular combinations are “all 7s” in 7, 17, 27, 37, 47, 57 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
The numbers were released ahead of the £ 20 million raffle on Saturday.
Camelot’s Andy Carter, National Lottery Senior Winners Advisor, said, “The secret is finally out. Lottery players were fans of choosing the number seven when choosing their own numbers.
“It would be amazing if they were drawn with potentially hundreds of jackpot winners.
“Good luck, whatever your lucky numbers, with the Saturday lottery drawing. Remember there is a £ 20 million jackpot to be won.”
