Mum lost four stone in time for her wedding day

A bride-to-be, who lost four stones just in time for her wedding day, shared how she achieved her incredible weight loss.

Katy Toft weighed 16 pounds the heaviest after eating McDonald’s meals and snacks of chips, chocolates, and cookies on a regular basis during the school run.

But determined to lose weight after giving birth to her fourth child, Katy signed up for the Cambridge Weight Plan, the 1: 1 diet Liverpool Echo Report.

The 40-year-old from Newton-le-Willows in Merseyside lost three stones in just three months of the start of the plan in October 2019 and lost another stone just in time for her birthday in June.

This brings her weight loss to a total of four stones after losing to 12st 7lb and switching from a size of 20/22 to a size of 12/14.

Katy said she now feels “healthy, happy and satisfied” and that she can enjoy her big day in October 2020 with husband Martyn at St. Peters Church.

Katy said, “I had just had my fourth baby and was dreading the thought of walking down the aisle and feeling uncomfortable in front of all my friends and family.

“I felt really unhealthy, I couldn’t go upstairs without getting out of breath.

“I couldn’t keep up with my children and didn’t want to be a bad example for them.

“Because it went through the Covid crisis, it was massive for health reasons, because when your BMI is really high you are at risk for all kinds of diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart problems.”

Katy said she previously lost some weight after giving birth to her third child, but “everything went snowy” after she broke up with her partner and started a new relationship.

Katy said, “It was convenient – I ate fast food and portions that were too big. I wouldn’t have just two slices of toast, but four slices of toast.”

“We live very close to a McDonald’s and we’d get involved on the school run.

“If someone asked for a cookie, I’d have a cookie. I have four kids and two stepchildren. If six kids come up to me and say, ‘I want a cookie’, I have six cookies.”

Eight months after giving birth to their fourth child, after quitting breastfeeding, Katy signed up for the Cambridge Weight Plan 1: 1 diet.

She started the diet with an intake of 800 calories a day and swapped three meals for meal replacements that were included in the plan.

Katy said, “The lowest calorie intake is 600 calories, depending on your BMI. I started with 800 calories.

“It was full meal replacement products that were nutritionally balanced with everything you need in a day. You have shakes, soups, you have porridge for breakfast, and you have other meal replacement products.

“It’s enormously motivating when you can see that the results come quickly.

“I lost three stones in three months, then I hit a wall with the pandemic. Then, before my 40th birthday, I lost another stone.”

Katy said what she enjoyed most about the plan is the one-on-one support she received from counselors. She has since signed up as a consultant herself to inspire others with her weight loss.

“I wanted to feel like the best version of myself. I no longer feel confident when I go shopping and I have no longer struggling to tie my shoelaces. I used to be out of breath tying my shoelaces – things like that ridiculous, “added Katy.

“I don’t feel like that now – I’m healthy, happy and satisfied.

“We had to bring our wedding day forward because of the next ban. When I took pictures again, I knew the smile was real – I just couldn’t believe it was me.

“Everything was such a whirlwind, but it was all worth it in that moment as I put on my wedding dress and went down the stairs and saw the faces of my family.”

Lockdown measures have been put in place across the UK and Katy said the next few weeks are the perfect time for people to lose weight if they want.

She added: I just want everyone to feel what it feels like to step into this size 12 dress and just feel amazing.

“It’s not just about looks, it’s how you feel about it. You feel like you can conquer the world – I want everyone to feel that way.

“The frequency with which people tell advisors like me if only I wasn’t having social events or going out on weekends.” We don’t have everything now, we’ve removed all distractions.

“If we can make the most of the time we have in lockdown, you can really do well with the goals you want to set yourself.”
