Mum told daughter, 9, had 'lockdown anxiety' discovers she actually has brain tumour

A mother has heartbreakingly shared how she was told her daughter was lockdown scared.

But doctors found a tumor the size of a large egg in her head.

Mum Toni Jenkins took Lily Harding to the GP in 2020 – at the height of the Covid crisis – when she was throwing up.

Tragically, Lily was discovered to have a cancerous tumor in her brain.

Lily, just nine years old, has undergone three surgeries at Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Months later, mum Toni was told the cancer had spread to her spine.

She told the Manchester Evening News: “Doctors first thought it was fear because of the coronavirus and the lockdown.

“Then they thought it might be acid reflux. We brought her back the next morning because she was still ill, so they gave her a CT scan that showed a massive tumor in her left frontal lobe.

“It was about the size of a large egg.

“We were absolutely devastated. Everything went so fast. We just had to stay strong for them.”

A family friend founded a GoFundMe Page to bring Lily to Disney.

“If there is an option that there is a treatment, we will need help to raise the funds to include it,” Toni said.

“Nevertheless, I want to say what a beautiful, bright, happy, strong and brave little girl Lily is – she has overcome everything like a true warrior.

“We are not giving up and will do whatever it takes to save our beautiful daughter. The world will be much darker without them.”
