NASCAR officials announced on Friday that three jobs will be assigned to Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway later this month as the sport aims to hold its first events since the COVID-19 outbreak.
The reshuffle shifts events away from Chicagoland Speedway, Richmond Raceway (spring) and Sonoma Raceway on the 2020 calendar. Sanctions authority officials say that future changes to this season’s schedule will “be released in the near future.”
NASCAR initially announced parts of a revised schedule from May 30 to April, adding national series events in Darlington and Charlotte. Those tracks were chosen in part because of NASCAR’s return to competition, because they are so close to the industry’s Charlotte hub, as officials seek to minimize travel needs and limit the amount of staff on the job with one-day events.
