A woman is on remand after a newborn boy is found in the trash can of an airplane toilet.

The 20-year-old Madagascar national is suspected of being the child’s mother, although she initially denied the parentage.

She was a passenger on a flight from her home country to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius on January 1st.

It was only when airport officials carried out a cabin inspection during a routine customs check that the toddler was found.

After he found the boy, he was taken to the hospital for treatment. BBC reported.

The woman was ordered to undergo a medical exam to see if she had recently given birth.

Police in the East African country guard the woman while she is in the hospital.

Both the woman and the baby are said to be in good shape.

It comes just days after a home-born premature baby pronounced stillborn was still alive as he was prepared for burial at a funeral home.

The undertaker in the community of Ariquemes in Rondonia, Brazil found that the infant’s heart was beating while his body was being dissected.

The 18-year-old mother, who was not named, asked for medical help on Monday, December 27.

Local media reports that the mother did not know about the pregnancy and had to be hospitalized twice after being in severe pain.

Her family said she was sent home by the paramedics on both occasions, who reportedly failed to notice that she was pregnant.
