Nottingham MPs called to Downing Street meeting over Covid restrictions

There are fears that Nottingham could move into the third tier alongside Liverpool and Lancashire, which means pubs will have to close.

City MPs are meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson at 4 p.m. today to discuss next steps, which could include closing pubs and banning unnecessary travel, as well as banning household mixing.

In Liverpool, Tier Three means all gyms, salons and other businesses with close contact are closed.

It has been reported that Lancashire may keep gyms and leisure centers open.

It is not known which tier three rule would apply to Nottingham.

Nottingham has had the highest Covid rates in the country for several days in a row. All of Nottinghamshire is currently subject to Tier 2 restrictions.

The government previously said that all of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire would be treated as one area to facilitate new restrictions on police and understanding.

However, the government then imposed restrictions on each district in Derbyshire, with Erewash and High Peak introducing new restrictions but escaping other areas.

While the three Nottingham Labor MPs were invited to the meeting, the Nottinghamshire MPs were not, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
