Nurse Lucy Letby denies murder of eight babies at hospital

A nurse has denied murdering eight babies and tried to murder ten more.

Lucy Letby, 31, filed a plea not guilty at Manchester Crown Court on Monday.

She repeated “not guilty” 18 times when a video link charge was brought against her by HMP Peterborough, where she is in custody.

Letby is believed to have murdered five boys and three girls while working in the Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit.

She is also charged with the attempted murder of five boys and five girls, with all alleged crimes committed between June 2015 and June 2016.

After submitting her requests, the Defendant from Arran Avenue, Hereford, listened to the hearing, which was mainly about administrative matters.

Before the process, which is now scheduled for October 2022, reporting restrictions still apply.
