Even though we were lucky Sir . to have seen Patrick Stewart returning as Jean-Luc in Star Trek: Picard, this already feels like the endgame is just approaching too quickly.
When season two is over, there’s only one chapter left until we say goodbye to the show for good, so either the hero will rest, or should he return with the ever-expanding Star Trek universe. The big question, right?
Season two will certainly not be as long as season three. Star Trek authorities wanted to shoot the second or third season in a row to make up for the missed production cycle during the pandemic.
Even if the final set of episodes is shot one after the other with the second season, the series will be finished, and we can expect several returning cast members to return to the universe. This means that we Trekkies have a lot to look forward to. So, here’s everything we know well about Star Trek: Picard season 3†
Picard Season 3: When can we see the new season?
Star Trek: Picard Season 3, as recently reported, was filmed shortly after the second season, and it wasn’t easy for everyone involved, especially Patrick Stewart.
After the conclusion of season two, the beloved captain of the people stated: Variety those filming for the third season will be completed in March 2022. Sir Patrick admitted five weeks later that he was “still recovering” which makes us quite excited for what’s to come.
While Paramount+ really hasn’t announced the show’s launch date, it looks like the streaming platform is targeting a spring 2023 release, almost a year after the last season ended.
Picard Season 3: What is the storyline of the show?
The very first season of Star Trek: Picard focused on two incidents that were really leftovers from previous Star Trek movies: The Death of Data in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesiswhose Picard battles with for most of the first season, and Romulus’ destruction in 2009’s Star Trek, which was used to introduce the synthetic humans who helped prevent the rescue of Romulan refugees and eventually paved the way for Picard to resign from Star Fleet.
Picard is obligated to help these synths because the two synthetic twins were already joined by his old friend Data. All this leads to Picard discovering the whereabouts of Data’s original creator and, to avoid his eventual death, decides to turn into a synthetic at the end of season one.
This returns to where we had last seen Picard, which was to board the ship La Sirena with such a new patchwork crew, heading for a new journey ahead. Picard is transported to the year 2024 with some of his old friends from Star Trek: The Next Generationincluding Jerri Ryan’s Seven of Nine and Michelle Hurd’s Raffi Musiker, in Season 2.
Picard and his companions must find out what the almighty… Q has done to change the chronology, resulting in the formation of a xenophobic replica of Starfleet known as the Confederation of Earth, and it is on a mission to wipe out all alien life.
For now, more concrete story points are unclear, but Stewart hinted that season three may be the most intriguing of them all.
“One of the very first things I noticed when I first read the end of season two was, ‘Where the hell are we going?’ Because it looked like there was a settlement. For a short period of time I worried out loud, ‘Oh god, are we going to finish early and will the show go away?’ We didn’t, however. Season 3 of Picard turned out to be in many ways one of the most intriguing episodes and moments of the entire show.”
Now that Season 2 is just over, it’s safe to assume that Paramount+ doesn’t seem to allow it Jean Luc Picard To leave.
He’s digging around his old Star Trek: The Next Generation gear in the new season three trailer, and now we see Picard and his old colleague Riker Jonathan Frakes standing side by side, pointing phasers at someone else.
Picard Season 3: Who’s coming back for the final season?
As for the conclusion of the second season, we expect the main characters to come back for Picard season 3, ie Patrick Stewart in his ultimate role of Jean-Luc Picard, Michelle Hurd will reprise his role of Rafaella “Raffi” MusicianEvan Evagora will be featured in the role of Elnorand Jeri Ryan will be seen as Seven out of Nine†
Alison Pill would be an exception, as she recently stated that her character of Agnes Jury won’t be back for the final season. Not only that, but Santiago Cabrera’s participation is also in doubt now that his character Cristobal “Chris” Rios had also chosen to stay in the past and live his days there.
Moreover, some all-important cast and crew have indeed been appointed to replace them. Picard had already indicated that a large number of legendary Next Generation personalities will play a prominent role in the third season, even before season two has already aired.
These include, LeVar Burton in the role of Lieutenant Commander Geordi La ForgeMichael Dorn as the WorfGates McFadden will be seen as: dr. Beverly Crushethen Jonathan Frakes is seen as the character Commander William T RikerMarina Sirtis will play the role of Advisor Deanna Troic and finally, Brent Spiner will play the role of: Facts.
Unfortunately, we’ll just have to wait until the next 2023 for something other than a new trailer. But don’t worry, as the show’s creators, as well as our never-ending love for Patrick, gave us a teaser for the series finale, which itself was revealed before Season 2 even finished airing.
