Controversial host Piers Morgan says ITV wanted him back on Good Morning Britain just months after he was banned from the show.
The one-time newspaper editor lost his job on the breakfast show in March after storming off the set while discussing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In his first newspaper interview since the drama, the 56-year-old says ITV got in touch. reports the mirror.
“They reached out – there were beginnings. Never say never,” he revealed.
“I have no doubt that I could bring the reviews back to where I left them – but the doubt is, would anyone be allowed to do it again?
“I was hired to express very strong, honest opinions, which I did. But in the end I was asked to apologize for real opinions,” he told The Sun.
Piers continued, “I had some pretty random third-party feelers brought out to see if I would consider returning to the show.
“I don’t want to say who on the file, but a pretty close third.
“As the Americans say, they tried hard – there were attempts to test the water in the course of their obvious valuation problems.
“It saddens me to see that all the hard work we have done to beat the BBC on the display of numbers goes away so quickly. It’s their problem to train … but never never to say” said the pronounced star.
