Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have announced the name of the newest member of the royal family.
The couple named their son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.
Buckingham Palace posted a picture of parents smiling with their first child.
Born on February 9th at 8:55 a.m. at the exclusive Portland Hospital in central London, the little boy is the ninth great-grandchild of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
The choice of Philip pays homage to the Duke, who remains in the hospital of King Edward VII and who was admitted on Tuesday evening after feeling unwell.
On Instagram, the couple said: “We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.
“Thank you for so much wonderful news. Our hearts are full of love for this little person, words cannot express them. We are happy to be able to share these photos with you.?”
The photos were taken by their “wonderful” midwife, the couple said.
They added, “Thank you very much to the wonderful staff, including our midwife, who came to fire our boy.”
The newcomer was born 11th on the throne, but will move up to 12th place following news a few days later that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a second child.
In the newly published picture, the little boy is wrapped in blue and has his eyes closed as he is held by his beaming father and clutching his mother’s finger.
On the day he was born, Eugenie, 30, and Jack gave the world its first look at their baby and posted a black and white picture of their hands cradling his tiny fingers and wrists on Instagram.
A few days later, Eugenie waved her son in a sling from the back seat of an SUV while husband Jack drove her home from the hospital.
After the child was born, the Queen and Philip were delighted to hear the news, as were Eugenie’s parents, the Duke of York and Sarah, the Duchess of York, and Jack’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank.
The baby is a normal Master Brooksbank, even though his mother is a princess.
Eugenie and Mr. Brooksbank, the European brand director of Casamigos Tequila, co-founded by actor George Clooney, got married in October 2018 in a glittering ceremony in the Gothic setting of St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in front of royal and celebrity guests.
When Eugenie was born in 1990, the Duke and Duchess of York’s unusual choice of names for their second daughter surprised everyone.
Pronounced “Yoo-junnee”, it was inspired by Queen Victoria’s granddaughter Victoria Eugenie von Battenberg, and the princess is nicknamed “Euge”.
