A pub has slammed a fake negative review after punters were turned away for breaching coronavirus guidelines.
Staff at the Lemon and Duke Bar in Dublin city centre refused service to a “young group” on Monday night because they were not following public health recommendations.
After that, the frustrated customers posted a fake negative review on the pub’s Tripadvisor page, Dublin Live reports.
Noel Anderson, the managing director of the bar, slammed the group on social media after they claimed in their one-star review that there were spiders in their food.
The review reads: “Loads of spiders in my food and when I complained to them about it they told me to grow up and get over it and that they can’t control spiders being in my food due to a huge spider’s nest in the kitchen, will not be coming back. Poor service.”
An angry Anderson said in a tweet: “We had a young group refused last night because they were trying to abuse the COVID guidelines and we had to eventually turn them away. Classy response, dealing with them all day. FFS.”
In a message to the customers on Tripadvisor, a spokesperson for the restaurant said that they will be taking action against the claim.
They added: “A message to all of our customers who read our reviews.
“We are aware that this is an entirely fabricated story and a very childish attempt to bring our establishment into disrepute.
“We are taking action against this false claim.”
