Queen's big birthday bash scrapped for second year

The Queen’s official birthday party – Trooping the Color – will not take place this year.

The annual event will not take place in its traditional form in central London this year, Buckingham Palace announced today.

Officials are considering an alternate parade at Windsor Castle, as happened last year.

The annual national celebration of the Queen’s official birthday usually takes place in June.

Last year the Queen saw a military ceremony in the square of the castle because of the pandemic.

The annual garter service, which usually also takes place in June, will not take place this year, the palace added.
