RBI extends timings for daily reverse repo, MSF window for one month

On Monday, the Reserve Bank extended the repo and marginal care (MSF) deadlines for a period of one month.

After the overhaul, operations can be carried out by participants throughout the day rather than focusing on opening the window earlier after evening bank hours.

The fixed rate reverse reverse repo transaction – when a player deposits excess funds with the RBI for overnight interest – will be available for access between 9 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. the evening between March 31 and April 30, said the central bank.

Similarly, the MSF window will also be open to operate at the same time, according to the press release.

Previously, the MSF and reverse repo windows operated between 5.30 p.m. and 11.59 p.m.

All other terms and conditions for reverse liquidity adjustment facility and MSF operations will remain the same, the central bank said.

Last Friday, while announcing the massive rate cuts, the RBI had worked to dissuade players from parking their money in such instruments and lending the same for productive purposes.
