National and state Republicans have made last-minute efforts to deter Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers from confirming the results of the presidential election.
In a letter sent on Saturday, Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel and Michigan Republican Committee Chair Laura Cox requested the board to adjourn for 14 days for a full review and investigation so that ” numerical anomalies and credible procedural irregularities “can be corrected.
“To gloss over these irregularities now without a thorough examination would only increase the distrust of the voters in Michigan,” said the letter, in which the talking points of the Trump campaign are repeated. The US Senate Republican candidate, John James, has also requested a delay for similar reasons. The letter was first reported by MLive.com.
