The children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared their passion for animals with Sir David Attenborough in an adorable video.
Prince George (seven), Princess Charlotte (five) and Prince Louis (two) interviewed the 94-year-old broadcaster in a video that was filmed at Kensington Palace in August.
Princess Charlotte revealed that she likes spiders, and Sir David told Prince Louis that his favorite animal was a monkey.
Prince George, whom Sir David had given to a fossilized basking shark at their meeting at Kensington Palace, asked him which animal he thought would become extinct next.
Sir David said to him, “Let’s hope there aren’t, because there are a lot of things we can do when animals are critically endangered. We can protect them.
“About 40 years ago I was in central Africa with some mountain gorillas.
“Mountain gorillas were very, very rare then, there were only 250 left, and we showed pictures of them on TV and people thought how terrible it would be if they went extinct.
“So they signed a lot of money and a lot of people came to help and now there are over a thousand of them.
“So you can save an animal if you want and focus on it. People all over the world do this because animals are so precious. So let’s hope that there are no more that become extinct. ”
Princess Charlotte revealed that she likes spiders and asked the seasoned nature commentator if he likes her too.
Sir David said to her, “I love spiders, I’m so glad you like them. I think these are wonderful things.
“Why are people so afraid of them? I think that’s because they actually have eight legs, which is a lot more than us. When you have eight legs you can move in any direction so you can never be entirely sure which direction this spider is going to go.
“He could go this way or that way … so people don’t like her, and they don’t like her hairy legs either.
“But spiders are so smart. Have you ever seen one who tried to build the web? That is extraordinary.
“How do you create a circular network that is attached to trees on both sides or to pieces of vegetation? How do you do that? Try to see how they do it, it’s wonderful. “
The youngest Duke and Duchess, Louis, asked Sir David which animal he liked best.
He replied, “I think my favorite thing about monkeys is because they are so funny. They can jump around anywhere and at least they don’t bite … some do, but if you are a little careful they won’t bite.
“And they’re so funny and I like them a lot. Mind you, you can’t have monkeys in the house because they don’t live there, they live out in the woods.”
Sir David added that if he had to choose between a puppy and a kitten as a pet, he would choose a puppy.
