Dustin Diamond, rescued by the Bell Star, has died after fighting lung cancer.
The 44-year-old actor was known for playing Samuel “Screech” Powers on the popular show.
He was admitted to the hospital in early January after falling ill.
A representative now has his death in one with the Daily star.
It was reported today (Feb.1) that the actor may only have weeks to live, according to friends.
A statement said: “We are saddened to confirm that Dustin Diamond passed away from cancer on Monday February 1, 2021. He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer just three weeks ago.
“During that time, it managed to spread quickly through its system. The only grace it showed was its sharp and quick execution. Dustin did not suffer.
“He didn’t have to lie lost in pain. We are grateful for that.”
Describing Diamond’s death as “sudden,” Diamond continued, “Dustin Diamond was a character in and of itself: an unpredictable hothead who always shocked us but never bored us.
“We are grateful that he trusted us enough to share his real, authentic self with our team. We wish you know him as much as we do.
“We ask that you give our team and Mr. Diamond’s family some privacy during this tragic time as we grieve and remember shared memories. This loss is as painful as it is sudden.”
Diamond became famous as Screech in Saved By The Bell in the 1990s.
He has also appeared on a number of reality shows, including the 12th series of Celebrity Big Brother in the UK.
