Scarborough South Bay heaving as Bank Holiday sunseekers pack onto beach

Families flocked to Scarborough today to bake in the glorious holiday Monday sun.

Temperatures were at an all-time high today, perfectly marking the first holiday since further coronavirus restrictions were eased.

Trying to get a spot to put a towel on South Bay Beach proved difficult, however, with hundreds of people crowding the beach.

Those who were lucky meant picnics, children built sandcastles, and many stripped down to their swimwear to dip their toes in the sea.

Elsewhere, the coastal streets were teeming with people buying ice cream, cotton candy, and fish and chips while motorists drove along in hopes of parking near the beach.
