The two known shipping centers affected include FedEx facilities in Memphis, Tennessee and Louisville, Kentucky, according to the CDC. It’s unclear how many doses of vaccine are affected by shipping delays, but officials from numerous states said they expected delays, including Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and Texas.
Kris Ehresmann of the Minnesota Department of Health said health care providers in the state may have to reschedule appointments because of the delays.
Meanwhile, some cities across the country, including Chicago, Memphis, and Dallas, have closed vaccination centers because of winter storms.
The news comes when the Biden government announced Tuesday that it would increase weekly vaccine allocations to states by 23 percent from 11 million doses to 13.5 million.
