Surrey hotel evacuated after body and chemicals discovered

A Surrey hotel evacuated its staff and guests after chemicals were discovered in a room where a man’s body was found.

SurreyLive Police were reportedly called to the Premier Inn on Staines Road in Sunbury at around 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, after a man was found dead.

Rescue workers discovered chemicals and evacuated the hotel.

Police later said they did not believe there was a risk to the public, adding, “We were called to the Premier Inn on Staines Road in Sunbury at around 3:25 this afternoon after reports of a man walking in found dead in a hotel room.

“Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were in place and a cordon was in place.

“Chemicals have been found and the hotel has been evacuated as a precaution. We are currently working with other authorities to identify the substance. The man’s next of kin have been informed.”

Police said the man’s death was treated as unresolved but that they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

According to reports, guests were allowed to re-enter the building around 8 p.m.
