A mother was frightened to discover that a stranger had lived on her roof for three weeks.
Monica Green, of Rockhamptom, Queensland, first realized something was wrong when she noticed things were out of place in her home.
While she was able to dismiss the concerns at first, it was apparent things were wrong when the mother of three came home from a doctor’s appointment on Monday.
The air conditioning was turned on and the back door was left open.
An even bigger tell-tale sign that something was wrong was a half-cooked meal of chicken nuggets Courier mail Reports.
Ms. Green immediately called the police, who came by and found that the attic door in the ceiling was crooked.
“I felt like it was something out of a horror movie,” she said.
“I’m supposed to be the one to protect them (their children) and I feel like I have failed.”
Ms. Green believes the person gained access to the house after their keys were stolen.
She has since changed locks.
“What was that person doing in my house when I’m not home?” she told the New Zealand Herald.
“Have you tried to harm me or my children? Did you want one of my children?
“Did you want to come down at night and murder us?”
Before Ms. Green made the terrifying discovery, she found that her security camera system was disabled.
Police found evidence of a person living in the attic, but they have not yet been found.
Jason Milner of the Queensland Police Department said the incident was “certainly unique”.
