These are the 21 places and businesses that can stay open during the second lockdown, the government has confirmed.

England will again take the toughest nationwide lockdown measures on Thursday to combat the spread of Coronavirus.

The upcoming shutdown is expected to last four weeks and end on December 2nd.

From Thursday 12:01 p.m., pubs, restaurants, bars and other non-essential shops and leisure facilities must close. Read more about it here.

There will also be a ban on household mixing, people will be encouraged to “stay at home as much as possible,” and people should only work from home when they can.

On Tuesday evening, the government released full legislation for the lockdown plans.

This includes the companies that may and may not remain open.

Those who can are:

  • Grocery retailers, including grocery stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, and mom and pop stores.
  • Off-licenses and licensed businesses that sell alcohol (including breweries). 3
  • Pharmacies (including non-dispensing pharmacies) and chemists.
  • Newsagents
  • Hardware shops
  • Building dealers and building technology.
  • Gas stations
  • Car repair and TÜV service
  • Bike shops
  • Taxi or vehicle rental
  • Banks, building societies, credit unions, short-term loan providers, savings clubs, ATMs, companies that operate currency exchange offices for business, transferring money (or a representation of money) by means of funds or cash checks to which they are to be paid to customers.

  • Undertaker
  • Laundromats and dry cleaners
  • Dental services, opticians, audiology, foot care, chiropractors, osteopaths and other medical or health services, including mental health services
