Bradley Walsh was speechless after a candidate at The Chase chose the wrong answer when facing Paul Sinha.
Ben had made £ 4,000 in his Cash Builder round and was the last person to face The Sinnerman, with two of his competitors already through with £ 15,000.
Confidently, there was even serious discussion that Ben was playing it off with The Chaser for £ 60,000, with both Anna, Perry and Paul Sinha knowing that Ben was better than the £ 4,000 he brought to the table.
Ben got off to a rocky start, however, and was shocked by a question about Windsor Davies’ character on “It Ain’t Half Hot Mum”.
But Ben left his competitor and most of Twitter almost ironically hysterical when he answered the next question.
Bradley asked Ben, “Used in medicine as an anesthetic, sodium thiopental drug is supposed to make people do what?”
The choices were “Tell Lies”, “Tell the Truth”, and “Tell Jokes”.
Bradley was confident as he passed the side of the board that Ben would make the right choice, but Ben took most of the time to respond.
Brad’s face drooped after Ben found out, “Tell jokes.”
Anna’s face burst into laughter as Brad was left speechless and with an expression of disbelief.
Ben then said, “I don’t know! Can make fun of you a bit … it’s not like a truth serum or anything …”
Brad gave Ben a smug look as Paul added, “No, it could be impossible.”
Ben laughed awkwardly when he realized his mistake.
Brad revealed the correct answer which was “Tell the truth” and said, “Truth drug! That’s it … it’s what they used in all the movies when they said,” Put the thiopental in them! “‘The truth drug when spies were interrogated.”
Hardcore fans on Twitter were just as enthusiastic about Ben’s response.
One wrote, “An anesthetic that gets people to tell jokes!?!”, Followed by four laughing emojis.
Another tweeted, “A joke drug?” Followed by a GIF of Will Ferrell laughing.
Others tweeted more laughing emojis.
Ben then failed on his next question, was caught by The Sinnerman, and sent home with nothing.
You can look back to the moment when Ben gave the answer in the video at the top of this article.
