The Crown: Trainspotting's Jonny Lee Miller spotted in character as John Major

Filming for the next season of the hit Netflix drama The Crown is well underway with actor Jonny Lee Miller spotted on set.

The British actor, who is best known for playing Sickboy in Trainspotting and Sherlock Holmes in the TV show Elementary, was seen wearing cricket whites while filming The Crown.

The 49-year-old is playing former Prime Minister John Major in the show, who was known to umpire cricket matches back in the 90s.

His get-up makes him look every inch the nerdy politician, which is a far cry away from the heroin addict Sickboy who Jonny played in Trainspotting alongside Robert Carlyle and Ewan McGregor.

The cricket scenes are set to be aired in the fifth season of Netflix’s The Crown, which is due to hit screens in November.

It will also star Imelda Staunton as the Queen, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Elizabeth Debicki as Diana. Dominic West will be playing Prince Charles alongside his real-life son Senan, who is playing a young Prince William.

The show’s sixth and final series, to air next year, will cover the late 90s and conclude in the early 2000s.
