The rarest 50p coins you can find – and you might have one in your wallet

Some coins can be worth a fortune, and you might even have one in your wallet.

Thousands of coins change hands every day and sometimes people don’t know they could be sitting on a rare coin that could be worth hundreds.

Well, collectors are hungry for certain 50ps out there and are ready to pay a lot for it.

Here are some of the rarest 50ps that Mirror says can sell for a good amount of money

1918 Representation of the People Act 2018 coin

A copy of this coin recently sold for £ 10,999 on Ebay.

The 50p was coined to celebrate a law that gave women over 30 the right to vote – provided they owned property. It also gave the vote to all men over the age of 21.

Around 9 million of these coins were made, which would normally mean that they are less valuable as they are not particularly rare.

Four 50ps were made to celebrate the iconic Paddington Bear with the character in front of a different London location on each coin.

The ‘Paddington at the Tower’ 50p is one of the most common, with 9 million made – but that didn’t stop one of the coins from selling for £ 10,000 on eBay this month.

Other Paddington coins depict the bear in Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Paddington Station.

Brexit 50p

The 50p was first released to celebrate the UK’s exit from the European Union and sold for £ 9,999 earlier this month.

One side is marked with the slogan “Peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations”.

While the coin has sold for up to £ 15,000, you may not be able to get that much for your coin.

Some eBay sellers are offering the Brexit 50ps at a cheaper price of £ 1.35 and they tend not to sell more than £ 5.
