There was a pretty cute disturbance on the set of “The Tonight Show” Thursday.
Jimmy Fallon asked his daughters, Winnie, 6, and Franny, 5, to give him a thumbs up or stick their tongue out after every joke in his monologue on the final episode of the show at home. Fallon made recordings from his home while he and his family are quarantined to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Spoiler alert: The girls did not use their thumbs once, but chose to stick out their tongues after each punchline.
After Fallon showed some of their artwork and asked what they liked to eat – Franny said she likes “unicorn ice creams” – Fallon went to work.
All of his quarantine-themed jokes fell flat with his little girls, and while they laughed, it was more focused on their own reactions than on the jokes themselves.
Once the monologue was over, the girls decided to leave, but not before Franny climbed over her dad and made a flight of stairs while climbing the stairs trying to kick off his popular hashtags segment.
“Wow,” Fallon wondered.
As if that wasn’t enough, she then hit some drums and showed off some of the musical skills shown earlier this week. Fallon was incredulous and stepped away, presumably to make sure she kept her mouth shut.
The segment was cut short and as soon as it started again, Fallon continued as usual. The entire experience echoed that although he may be a big star, he is still a parent dealing with energetic little kids while in quarantine.
At least we can all laugh about that.
